Wax has softening properties at elevated temperatures. The optimal melting temperature is 80-90 degrees.

After hardening, it permanently retains its shape. It has good adhesion to paper, textiles and other surfaces.

A very simple method of melting wax - it is crushed and placed in a metal dish, then heated on a small flame. The neck of the bottle is dipped in varnish.
