Saccharometer - hydrometer for measuring sugar in beer, wine and sugar wort 0 - 29°Blg

Saccharometer - a hydrometer is a measuring device that is necessary for the preparation of home beer, wine and other sugar worts. It can be used to quickly and easily measure the sugar content (expressed in Balling degrees) of the liquid being tested.

Recommended concentration ranges are marked with colors - different colors on the hydrometer scale indicate ranges of sugar concentrations corresponding to the specific stage of wine and beer fermentation.

From 0 to 29°Blg – the hydrometer allows for a wide range of measurements.

The plastic tube included in the package is durable and unbreakable.

The device is calibrated at 20°C, so it is best to measure under similar conditions.

      Measurements in wine must:

      1) Try to fill the test tube with wine must so much that the hydrometer floats freely and does not touch the bottom and walls of the test tube

      2) The liquid must not contain solid particles or gas bubbles and must be at a temperature of 20°C

      3) The result is read from the scale along the upper readings

For convenience, the initial sugar concentration ranges in the wort are marked on the scale in different colors for the different types of wines we want to get:

dark burgundy segment (22 - 25°Blg) - dessert wines (sweet)

      yellow segment (15 - 22°Blg) - table wines (dry)

Attention: In order for the fermentation to take place correctly, it is important that the concentration of sugar before fermentation does not exceed 22-25°Blg. If you prefer very sweet wines, add sugar in several stages, for example on the 1st, 5th and 12th days of fermentation. The wine can also be sweetened after fermentation is complete.

      Measurements in beer wort:

The sugar content of beer wort is measured in the same way as wine wort.

The range of recommended initial sugar concentration in the wort is marked on the scale in amber (8-10°Blg).

The wort fermentation is complete when the reading is in the range marked in green (0-2°Blg).
